Even though its been a short week its been a busy one. I have made some good progress on my week seven assignments and have only one left on week six. The library searching assignment which is what I intend to complete today. I did use Wednesday evening for 315 homework so I’m glad we had the much needed break. Its so easy to get behind even when you think you’re ahead. If that makes any sense. My genres are up to date. I decided to do a journal entry speaking as the client whose life is miserable and pointless or so it seems. Maybe by the end of my project he will have a revelation or something. I stopped by Ms. McComas office the other day and got a couple of resources regarding my topic. I plan on checking those out today.

Aim and objectives: Once again the same as always finish my assignments ahead so I can have some breathing room. I still need to review Cindy’s 2 genres when she gets them finished. I don’t want to email her because she seemed really stressed out in her journal. I have already looked at her webliography. I’m hoping I don’t forget. I have already completed Allison’s three items. Main goal: stay positive and focused. Also, learn to have faith in myself a lot more.

I’m getting a much later start on my journal entry for the week. I guess you could say I just wanted to have fun. Apple Day was Saturday, which is the festival for Johnson County, and we always go to the car show and walk around looking at arts and crafts. So I definitely got sidetracked on my 315 assignments. These fun times are the reason why I always try to finish my assignments ahead of time.

I have been thinking about my genres and how I plan on developing them. Even though I talked to Ms. McComas on Wednesday and she explained about unifying them I still don’t have a clear picture of what my unifying genre will be. It made a lot of sense using The Christmas Story, as an example with the ghosts of the past and future bringing the story together but my imagination isn’t that great. She assured me its okay to have the little picture first and work towards the big picture and this did make me feel a whole lot better. So I’m hoping to get inspired between now and then.

The PowerPoint presentation was awesome! I’ve been thinking about it every since then. Since mine is focusing on self-image I thought about using a background with mirrors or something reflective. I feel like I should have a lot of options with this subject. My only problem with this is my computer isn’t equipped with PowerPoint. It has something called the wizard for presentations. Oh well I’ll have to check with my niece since she just recently purchased a new Dell.

Aim and objectives for the week are: practice drafting a poem and complete my assignments ahead of schedule.

Who would think that trying to write foundation and essential questions would take so much time and thought. I completed the revision assignment and of course when I did my project prospectus I revised them again. I guess this is a good thing because it shows me there is always room for improvement and that I am learning on a continuous basis.

Our class meeting on Wednesday went well for me. I now feel like I have a better handle on what exactly a project prospectus is supposed to be and do. At first I read it a couple of times and was thinking I know I’m readying this because I still don’t understand. Ms. McComas suggested we visit Jennblog, which I feel gave us all a better understanding on how we should tie all the genres together. Everyone in the class seems to be having the same problem as I am. That is reduplication of information. It seems that everywhere I have looked so far I have located almost exactly the same info regarding dysphagia. But our class meeting helped me realize that I really was looking in the all the wrong places. I needed to look into the psychological aspect and leave the physiological area to the other two or three girls that are doing the same topic as mine. And because of our meeting I realized that I am not the only one having the same problems and this felt good not to be alone.

So in doing assignment 2.2.1 last night I spent literally hours looks for articles that dealt with a person’s self-image. Jackpot! Now I have a good start on how important self-image is. How a person feels about himself or herself is a good indicator for recovery. That our beliefs, experiences, and attitudes shape the way we handle adjustments to difficult situations. This is especially important when someone has a physical disability. So now I am getting a better understanding about copies strategies and the vital role they play in achieving some type of normalcy in our lives.

Aim and objectives for the week: Develop better searching skills. I feel like mine are weak because it seems I spend hours and come with nothing useful. This causes me a great deal of tension and stress so I’m glad that things are slowing down even though they are taking a lot more time. All in all this hasn’t been the greatest week so I’m hoping the next one will be better. I have done a lot of internalizing and hope to learn from past failures so that I can succeed.

I am looking forward to our Powerpoint presentation lesson. I have always wanted to be able to do one I just never knew how. I think they look so professional which brings me to our last assignment internalizing web evaluations. Our group talked about this on Wednesday also and I think everyone was in agreement about how we want to present our work. Professional and entertaining.
